Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c or as per requirement).
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server databases (2012/2014/2016/2017/2019/2022).
  • Install and configure MySQL, PostgreSQL databases.
  • Perform backup and recovery, restore operations and implement retention policies using SQL Server native tools / third-party tools.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance using indexes, execution plans, SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as monitoring, patching, and tuning.
  • Manage tablespaces, users, roles, and privileges.
  • Backup, Recovery & DR
  • Create and manage RMAN backup and recovery strategies.
  • Perform point-in-time recovery and database cloning.
  • Handle Data Guard setup, monitoring, and switchover/failover operations.

 

Performance Tuning:

  • Diagnose and resolve database performance issues using AWR/ADDM/ASH.
  • Optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and implement tuning recommendations.
  • Implement and manage High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions:
  • AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Failover Cluster Instances
  • Log Shipping
  • Replication
  • Mirroring
  • Manage Oracle RAC environments, ASM storage, and cluster configurations (if applicable).
  • Support high-availability architecture for critical applications


Security & Compliance:

  • Implement database security, encryption, auditing, and access control.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external data governance policies.

Development Support:

  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize queries, schemas, and deployment.
  • Review database code, stored procedures, and scripts.
  • Automation & Scripting:
  • Develop shell scripts/Ansible/Automation scripts for routine DBA tasks.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and documentation.

Monitoring & Incident Management:

  • Monitor database health using tools like OEM, Cloud Control, Zabbix, Nagios, or similar.
  • Troubleshoot database incidents and provide on-call support when required.

Good to Have

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud (OCI), AWS RDS Oracle.
  • Exposure to GoldenGate.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of other databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) .
  • Oracle certifications (OCA/OCP).
  • Scripting T-SQL, PowerShell
  • Cloud (preferred) Azure SQL, Managed Instance, SQL on Azure VM / AWS RDS SQL
  •  SSMS, SQL Profiler, Azure Data Studio, RedGate tools, OEM/Monitoring tools
